radio game

eric and i used to play this game in the car, on road trips. we put the radio on an oldies or classic rock station to start. then, when a song came on, we each had until the singing started to name the title of the song. bonus point for naming the artist too. of course, i always won, though eric stands firm in his own memories of winning often- so we'll say it was a tie. (it wasn't, but i know he'll read this, so... :) )

i feel like we used to take so many more road trips than we have recently. granted, we have had a slam-packed year, but lately i am itching to turn up the radio and drive to a beach somewhere, park my chair and open a thick book. to sip a beer wrapped in a koozie and take a nap in the middle of all that sunshine and noise.

needless to say, my current state (37 weeks today, btw) is keeping my tush close to home and hospital at all times. so why the sudden urge?

i had a dream this week that i strapped a jet pack on my back, against my dad's advice, and flew over the ocean to australia. on my way there, i flew low, close to the water, and was mesmerized by the colors of the sunset on some cliffs nearby, the purples, pinks and oranges and all the sparkles on the water.

it will be this spring before we can (afford and have time for a) get away. think we can rent a car and play the radio game on an island somewhere? i'll have to brush up on my reggae...

eric, watch out!
