a couple weeks ago, i had plans to have dinner with my friend sarah before leaving dc. the way lives are around here, we wondered if we'd have time again to see each other before i move to portland. sarah is one of my best friends from college.
she picked me up, trotted me off to a restaurant, and surprised me with all my close girlfriends from dc there. i couldn't believe it! i am friends with beautiful, smart, busy women-- it's not easy to coordinate everyone (just ask our bookclub calendar...). but she did it. amazing. i had so much fun and was completely surprised. (i also just noticed that it appears we totally got photobombed in that one photo, HA.)
this past weekend, eric's parents graciously hosted a party for us at their house since it was our last weekend in dc (eric's going on a guys' trip to keys this weekend and next weekend i intend to be lakeside at my bro's in sc...). several pals came over, including one from nyc, and it was a blast. we ordered pizza, drank beers, the weather was divine.
tonight, my work hosted a farewell happy hour for me and eric and adam came too. it was awesome to say goodbye one last time to so many folks and to have a special time to do it, outside of cube-land.
how lucky we are!

the inside of our house, everything but an air mattress, a travel crib, a couple laptops and suitcases, was taken away yesterday. i have books, the internet (till tomorrow nite!) a pseudo-bed and LOTS to do. adam, well, he just has lots and lots of space to run now. he doesn't mind one bit. i keep waiting for him to ask me about the couch or the tv or the table where we usually eat, but nope. adaptable little boy.
as i suspected i would, i am feeling much better about letting go of the house. feels a lot less like our HOME now that it's, well, empty. our new home is waiting in portland and i'm ready to close this house and get this show on the road. travels, weddings, visiting with family(ies) and new adventures await.
