confession.
last night, friday, eric and i had a squabble. and while i sat in our room and....he might say "pouted", but whatever...he made dinner. fried chicken.
when he finished cooking, he came into our room and said - i made fried chicken, if you want any.
i said nothing. i did not move.
later, around 10pm, when the hunger twisting in my belly was more than i could stand, i went into the kitchen to make a snack. from the couch, he muted the television and said - there is fried chicken in the fridge.
i said nothing. i made a grilled cheese, ate it at the counter, and went back to bed.
this morning, we'd already planned for eric to be the one to take adam to his swim class at 10am we are going to take turns on weeks, since only one parent can go at a time. when they left, i walked them to the car. i have plans to go into work today (crazy, yes, i know) to do a couple little things before monday. i had already told eric i planned to go into work while he and adam were away at swimming.
he said- do you want me to give you a ride to work?
i said- no, i'll just walk. i'll see you guys later. i probably also told adam to paddle his arms and be a good boy, but i can't remember exactly b/c i was too focused on what i was about to do.
as soon as they left, i didn't walk to work. i ran up the stairs to our apartment, skipped the elevator, too slow. i went immediately to the fridge, pulled out the fried chicken and made myself a bomb-ass sandwich. i even toasted my bread. then i sat right down and ate it, alone, while reading a book. devoured.
it was delicious.
