of all the photos we took for the holidays, these two are my favorite.

adam insisted on wearing his "circle" (the glow stick necklace), his "shades" (the mr. potato head glasses), and the "nite nite hat" (a pull up on his head).  something tells me this photo will come in quite handy in the next 12-18 years...

i love this photo b/c it's pure sleepy adam... and pure eric too, really.  for me, eric is all over this photo too.

happy new year people!  we had a lovely, relaxing week in sc. it was odd - 65 when we arrived and then 4 inches of snow a few days later.

when back in portland, we got to go on a boat ride on eric's ship, it was sooo pretty (and we were bundled sooo much! brr).

eric and i spent nye at home - might be a first for us, spending it together, at home, just the 2 of us.  we laid on the couch in our jammies and watched 3 hours of the bio channel.  well actually, i watched it and he slept.  i woke him at 1159, we said happy new year, and then migrated to bed, half asleep.  there was a brief moment where i was like - eric, this is my last nye in my 20's!  we are young!  we should be out!  doing something!  but he said something like - carissa, we have a 2 yr old in the next room and you're 5 mos pregnant, where exactly do you want to go?!  sigh.  he's always right.  frankly it was nice to rest.  such a rarity.  plus, i now have all kinds of knowledge about american gangsters that i never had before.  thanks bio!

we have a baby appt next week.

breathing room opens this weekend and i'm a busy busy mama pulling together last min details.  i am super pumped and my family is coming to visit this weekend to be part of the start to this exciting adventure.  so ready for saturday.

i haven't made any big time resolutions this year.  i notice some things that need some, ahem, fine tuning in my life and i'm focusing on those things.  i think that thinking big but small at the same time is best.  "big" being sort of themes, but small being a few small things that can fit into those themes - small things that can make a big difference.  my bigtime themes are discipline, body connection (food, fitness, rest, meditation), gratitude, and a focus on the bigger picture/what's REALLY important for me.  (i really need to work on discipline and rest - i need to find a place/time for work and allow rest/recreation to be just as important -  to rest i need to be more disciplined during "work time," knowing that "rest time" is coming up.  and then when "rest time" arrives, i have to put "work time" away. like really away. pointers people?

some fun adam stuff lately:
- he told me recently that he doesn't say "oh shit" that he is not allowed to say that, that he instead says "oh man"
-he wants me to sing happy birthday often and makes requests of whose name to insert.
-he asks to go to bed with a  book and asks me to leave the light on so he can look at the book.  i hear him "reading" out loud to himself after i shut the door, after he says i love you so much, mommy.  then i go in a couple hours later to turn off the light and he's asleep with the book in his arm or under his face.  it's adorable and makes me so happy.  some favorites right now are tikki tikki tembo, poky little puppy, a lift-the-flap book about finding animal poops, and Big Trucks.
- he LOVES ice cream and "cocklate" ever since having "hot cocklate" recently.  he asks me at every meal (breakfast included) - mommy, i take lots bites i get ice cweam?
- he is standing to go potty and wears underwear all the time, except at naps and nite time, when he wears a pull up that we call his nite nite pants.  recently, he said - mommy, daddy stand up to go pee like me!  funny how he already forgot who showed him how to do that first!
- he was pretty good on the airplanes and was VERY excited to be on it and see all the planes and trucks at the airport.
