when living in dc, i practiced a lot at tranquil space, a gorgeous studio in the district with some excellent teachers.  i read the owner's blog often and am frequently amazed at all that she is able to  accomplish at once, while maintaining her practice and teaching schedule.

one thing she does (on her blog) that i love - she sets monthly goals, or "dreams" as she calls them, and then also lists her accomplishments for the week.  this is super type A, which i can appreciate.  and,  this practice calls attention to all that you DID do, which is nice when what we too often focus on is what is still left undone, beating ourselves up and feeling like we haven't done enough.  (is it just me?)  maybe for some people, it doesn't matter what you "accomplished" during the week.  but... as a solo-mama most of the time, plus now steering the studio + still working my day job, i am a person with a lot of responsibility and a ton of to-dos.

i might not list them here on my blog (maybe someday i will) b/c my lists include lots of mundane stuff no one probably cares about but me (scrubbed dirty tub before bathing adam [woo hoo for clean babies in clean tubs], knocked out all those dirty dishes FINALLY, reconciled all the financial data for the studio this week, finished our taxes...)  see, sorta boring, but i am so happy that i did ALL this!  i think i'm going to set up a space in our house - a chalkboard maybe? - to celebrate all that is now on the to-DONE list.

in other news, i don't know if i have written enough about (and definitely want to remember) how much i love love love the space we've made (and are making) at breathing room.  the space makes me so happy that when i am there, i don't want to leave.  it's so pretty and calming, it is definitely starting to have a community feel, as our bulletin board fills with neighborhood info, photos, poems, etc. now that we've brought in some pretty art/jewelry created by local artists.  now that students are starting to linger for tea and chats after class in our reception area, coats and scarves draped here and there, bodies sinking into our little couch and vintage pew. now that i am starting to learn so many students by first name.

the teachers are crazy awesome, and all the classes i have taken have been so divine.  class sizes are growing.  monday i taught a rather large class and the sound of om as we began class nearly brought tears to my eyes it was so so so so beautiful and filling.  i couldn't stop smiling.  as busy as this place is keeping me, i LOVE it and wouldn't change a moment. and even if it sinks someday, i'll never regret going for it.

the ONLY thing left i need to change is a little facelift to the front of the building.  we want to paint, but can't until it's much much warmer outside.  i also want to add little window boxes full of flowers out front.  springtime, come on already!
