my sunday yoga series started up again tonight and was WONDERFUL. i came home bubbling over with happiness, saying to eric-- imagine if this was my FULL time job, how happy i'd be every single day!! hehe.
there were 14 ladies and gentleman there, and with some help from eric (i left my own ipod at my office and he helped me load my playlist onto his fancier pod) i had what felt like a decent playlist. there were some returning students, some new faces and some long-time friends. a good mix, i felt. we just about maxed out our space and i spoke with the gallery owner after the class about rearranging the room to allow for more students next week. yahoo!!
one student suggested i start a mommy-and-me class. another told me about a running group she knows that could use a yoga-for-runners class... if only this economy would turn around, i'd consider opening a true studio! c'mon Mr. Obama... you know, i have big plans!

in other news... we had a potty accident this weekend, and i don't mean the baby.
since otis came home with us, he's been sleeping on the floor in our bedroom. lately, since he's getting bigger and older, he's been making so much noise at night that i've been considering giving him the boot for some time. well, friday night, i hear him stirring around in the middle of the night. to myself, i'm thinking-- this is IT. tomorrow morning i am talking to eric and otis is not allowed to sleep in our room anymore, he is SO loud! as i am stewing in the dark, i start to smell something that smells a lot like... DOG POOP.
eric! i say. eric! i wake him. it smells like dog poop in here, i say. since we have brought otis home, he has never once pooped in our room where he sleeps, so i was honestly surprised to smell this. so surprised that i guess i needed to wake up eric. he sniffs the air, agrees with me, and pulls the chain over our bed to turn on the light in our room.
we look on the floor and right beside my head, on a throw pillow that goes on my bed (!) sits a hot, smelly pile of poop! ugh! at that moment, eric swings his leg over me to get up and clean it up. as soon as his bare foot lands, eric realized he's made a terrible mistake. he planted his toes and foot in a SECOND pile of hot smelly poop. immediately, i hop into action, running into the kitchen and grabbing paper towels and a grocery sack. without having to ask a single question, eric knew what to do. he tied the plastic bag onto his foot... as i ran to the bathroom to avoid peeing my pants because i am laughing so hard. watching from the bathroom, i see eric dry heaving (the man sees dead bodies, no problem, but poop? forget it...), tying a Giant bag around his foot and yelling at the dog at 4am. oh my goodness it was too much.
eric picks up otis to run him outside. he runs, bag on foot, carrying the dog, to the back door.
shit! the alarm!, he said. he remembered our house alarm was set. we've made the mistake of accidentally setting of the alarm before at the back door and are careful not to do it again (our neighbors probably appreciate that...). so, carrying the dog, bag on foot, he runs to the alarm control panel in our living room, turns off the alarm, runs back to the back door and sets otis outside, finally.
you're going to have to take a shower, i said.
oh, definitely, he said.
i grab a hefty and start piling in all the laundry on our floor that otis soiled. our room smells exactly like the doggie toilet its become, and i am completely fresh out of candles and sprays. i have some linen spray i consider spraying, but fear that will just make our room smell like lavender poop. regular poop is bad enough. i cranked the ceiling fan up to propeller speed while eric washed.
it ended up being ok, and we figured otis had to be sick because this was so out of character. regardless, he definitely got the boot and spent the rest of that night and all subsequent nights in the living room on his doggie bed.
