reality check

from a friend who read my blog post today:

"You sounded a bit overwhelmed and stressed with all you have going on so always remember to take a deep breath and say a word of thanks for all of these wonderful things that do keep you busy! A job, a wonderful home, an unbelievable family and the minor things we don’t think about day in and day out- clean water to wash the bottles with, warm clothes to bundle Adam up in, a new car to take you to a job where you are paid good money to live in a beautiful new home (ok, I haven’t seen it yet, but soon enough)."

is she right, or is she right? thank God for this friend, and all friends like this. every day i thank thank thank for our home, our love, our little family. but how selfish am i, still? so many people can't even put food on the table or keep their hard-earned roofs overhead right now. and here i am, surrounded by wonderful things-- including the too often taken-for-granted details like hot water, warm clothes, love and smiles.

one of my new year's resolutions was to begin a gratefulness journal. i just hope it has enough pages.
