we went to coooooosta riiiiiica! and, of course, it was awesome. getting there, not so much. but the rest, perfect. photos to follow soon.

thanks to snowtorious B.I.G., we were delayed getting out of dc. which caused us to miss our connection in panama. and in panama we stayed. and stayed. waiting...overnight...waiting. and then we made it to san jose! but, alas, we'd missed our regional flight. and what do 9 snow-drenched, sun-thirsty people do? they rent a bus and a driver and make a cross country expedition in central america, of course.

the van/bus ride was one of the best parts of the trip, for me. i dreaded it originally, but it was actually very fun. for me, the vacation started on the bus, with the many costa rican beers and car games.

justin and rachel's wedding was magical. and the entire week was perfect. so many funny and sweet memories. i had such a good time getting to know some mutual friends better and become closer with those we've known awhile. eric and i got home without a hitch and spent the rest of the weekend kissing and hugging our baby boy, who we both missed immensely and surely talked about way too much.

folks, i just want to say, if it snows again, i'm gonna have to leave. leave. go. i hope that eric can come too, but if not, adam and i will visit on weekends.

ok fine, i could never ever leave my eric, but what the HEEEEELLLLL with this weather?! i realize we're not in sc anymore. but eff, we are not in michigan either! i can't take this anymore.

sigh.

spring is so close i can taste it. like, literally. in my mouth. i don't remember last spring too much. isn't that weird. i think i was still in whoa-we-have-a-REAL-baby overwhelm, so i can barely remember the season changing or any details whatsoever. i can recall the spring before, though. the spring that i was pregnant, like it was just last month-- the exact smells, the way the air felt, the color of the grass on my walk to work, the days watching the tulips push though the earth, walking with eric after rain to get dinner with no jacket, iced jasmine green tea in the mornings.... but last spring is a blur. it feels like i had no spring in two years. therefore, i am super excited for this spring. and folks, we have less than a month to go! i think knowing that it's coming, i feel energized inside. even though, i admit, i DO feel weighted by this ick weather and the gray days and the icy air, i also feel a stirring inside-- something fresh and exciting. (note: i am not pregnant! but this feels almost like the nesting instinct that happens when you are...)

so i have lots of goals for march, which include

  • some physical revamping of my/our environment (painting our upstairs rooms, toy storage organization [before the toy tsumani erupts officially], selling some old furniture, looking for some new pieces, researching some landscaping plans for our yard, etc.
  • getting more SLEEP. sweet, glorious sleep.
  • watching less tv. i actually hate that our television is just ON often, for no good reason. from now on, i intend to leave it OFF, especially when adam is awake. music and silence are so much more pleasant. for all of us. i started tonight. adam and i dined to the avett brothers and paco de lucia.
  • eating lighter and healthier. before our trip to CR, i made a more conscious effort to eat more healthily and have less carbonated beverages [yes, this includes beer, my fave]. naturally, i wanted to look nice before our beach vacation. i lost just a few lbs, but i FELT amazing. and that's what counts, right? right.
  • read more. see "watch less tv" above.
  • research and potentially sign up for a sewing class. this was a new years resolution and i can't stop thinking about it.
  • plan a shower/party for my beautiful, smart, sassy best friend, courtney, who is getting hitched this summer!
