today
eric and i both had the day off (what a treat, since wednesday we also both had the day off for snow) and we took adam to a bouncy castle place, hoping for a new, fun indoor place to play. it was pretty crappy, unfortunately. tho adam had some fun... we let him play an hour before leaving.
we went to lunch at a fun little co-op bakery and local cafe here in portland. ALL the ingredients and foods are from here in maine, and you can purchase a share in the co-op to support the farmers and growers. or, you can just pop in for lunch and a muffin, like we do.
after nap and a little run to the studio i needed to make, we took adam to the portland fire museum. i reminded him over and over and over before going that he couldn't drive these trucks, that we were just going to look with our eyes at some cool fire trucks. he wore his "fire mam" hat and did not cry about not getting in the trucks, much to our relief. i showed him pictures of old horse drawn fire trucks and dalmatian fire house "puppies", as he calls them.
dinner, toy-clean-up, story time, beddy bye, and then a little computer work for mommy to get done. we have eric home this weekend before a month of in and outs again. boo. i've been so spoiled this month.... not just with the extra hand in chores and kid-taking-care-of and kid-entertaining, and the car all shoveled and cleaned for me, but just in having a companion, a buddy, someone to talk to in the evenings or share coffee with in the mornings. there hasn't been a week day morning i haven't gotten up to a hot pot of coffee already made or many evenings that i haven't rested on the couch while eric tucked adam in and read, for the millionth time, "little blue truck."
