yesterday, i had a 6 mos baby check up and all is well. i was telling the nurse how time has FLOWN by and she said - well, as long as you have everything ready at home...
i have nothing ready at home.
i keep thinking i have so much time, but i don't. plus, it's even less time until i start feeling uncomfortable (i remember bragging to pals last time about how great i felt at 34 weeks... only to start feeling heavy, uncomfortable, achy and, well, pregnant, beginning the following week...) need to knock out to-do's while i still feeling like to-do-ing.
so, this weekend i hope to go through boxes and bags and look for some gender-neutral baby clothes and make lists of what we might need. a newborn baby really doesn't need much, but those things it DOES need are essential. the idea of doing some baby shopping is also exciting. it feels super real. sometimes, i can see my belly moving when baby is jumping and squirming. (and i do mean JUMPING, confirmed yesterday. the baby is currently breech, feet way down at the bottom and head around my belly button. baby has plenty of time to turn around tho, and turn he or she better! until then, jumping is fun to watch.)
whew, time.is.flying.
baby weighs 1.5lb and heart rate was 146, which, if you believe in old wives tales, indicates a girl. i think girl, eric thinks boy. hmmm. i've gained 8lbs total since beginning this adventure, which is really not too shabby. far less, i'm certain, than at this point last time. i'm ravenous all the time, often my stomach growling just a couple hours after dinner, so i'm happy things are staying under control.... with no help from me. it's a mystery to me how i haven't gained 50 lbs.
